EDUCATION
The Fabindia School: 2008
Sophia College Ajmer: B.A.
JNU, Delhi: M.A.
Delhi University: Pursuing M.Phil (History)
I am Heena Goswami, a resident of Bali and a former student at Fabindia. I passed out in 2008 and must I add, I was also the Headgirl. No small feat. And quite obviously, the school was and remains special.
Fabindia provided an inclusive and interactive space for us, our parents and peers to learn that education was important for education's sake and not for how much we scored. The enthusiasm that I developed here for debating, sports, leadership continues to shape my life.
Fabindia opened my eyes to a world, that was so much more diverse than my village, so much bigger and there was so much to learn from it. I still remember stories that Jayita Ma'am, Parineeta Ma'am, UWC volunteers told about their places and the struggles they overcame. I felt so ready to explore the world and that led me to places.
First to Ajmer, then to Jawaharlal University and now, at Delhi University, where I pursue my M.Phil. in History (both Jayita and Parineeta Ma'am taught the subject in school). Fabindia made us aware, inspired and encouraged us. That meant a lot for a 13-years old girl and it's memories mean the same to a 25-years old one.
To add, about my life after Fabindia, I graduated Sophia College, Ajmer and then did my M.A. from JNU, New Delhi and as mentioned earlier, I am currently pursuing my M.Phil. (History) from Delhi University. Nothing equals the honour of have become Fabindia's Head Girl.
